  • Uterine Sarcoma - Classification

    Classification

    Standard: FIGO classification (2009) of uterine sarcomas: Leiomyosarcomas, Sarcomas of the endometrial stroma

    Stage I= Tumor limited to the uterine body
       - Stage I A: tumor limited to the uterus and < 5 cm - Stage I B: tumor limited to the uterus and > 5 cm
    Stage II = Tumor extended to the pelvis
       - Stage II A: adnexal involvement
       - Stage II B: extension to extrauterine pelvic tissue
    Stage III = Extended tumor in the abdomen
           - Stage III A: abdominal extension on 1 single site
           - Stage III B: abdominal extension more than 1 site
          - Stage III C: pelvic and/or lumbo-aortic lymph node metastasis
    Stage IV = Localization or Distant Metastasis
           - Stage IV A: extension to the bladder and/or rectum
           - Stage IV B: distant metastasis including extra abdominal lymph nodes including inguinal lymph nodes.

    Stage I = Tumor limited to the uterine body
         - Stage I A: tumor limited to the endometrial mucosa or the endocervix - Stage I B: damage to the myometrium < 1⁄2 internal

    Stage II = Tumor extended to the pelvis
          - Stage II A: adnexal involvement
